Just wanted to show what the F number (f stop) does when you change it. I used Av mode or Aperture mode to shoot this.

F/6.3 notice the background is all out of focus. A lower F number lets more light in but narrows the area of focus.
F/22 notice more of the photo is more in focus. A higher f number gives more area in focus but lets less light in.

I’d suggest using higher numbers on landscape pictures and lower numbers for portraits.
